Edinburgh in december is fantastic as the Christmas market on Princess street has started. Part of the gardens are turned into an outdoor icerink, there is a huge big wheel which gives fantastic views of the city, I recommend going up just after sun set, cold but great views of the Christmas lights. You will have a fantastic time Im sure

I like the cowgate area of Edinburgh - lots of bars/restaurants and that kind of thing, very trendy and full of (nice) people at night time.

hey there
nice that u come to this city. I can recommned alot to u - but what do u have in mind?

The cowgate is ofcourse where all the clubs and bars are for mostly Uni students. I wouldnt say its at all trendy - unless by trendy u mean drunks puking in the gutters and dicso trash music playin in all the bland nite spots. It is great if u just wanna get out and get drunk and maybe get to sample some local Scot flava. But if u want trendy - Goerge Street is more upscale new town area with hip bars and clubs. But very pricey and somewhat pretentious.

So its really about what ur lookin for. The City Cafe (Hunter Square behind the Tron) is a cool bar with live djs on the weekend, devoid of the Uni crowd. Nicol Edwards off of the Royal Mile is a nice pub.
Theres a hostel/bar in the west end of princes street that has great live music - i think its called Caledonian Backpackers - or somethin.

The Grassmarket and Victoria street is better for Pubs i think. The Black Bull and the Last Drop are my favorites.

If u want live techno - Try the Venue (its behind Waverly Train station) - kinda hard to find. The Honeycomb is great for Drum N Bass (same street as Nicol Edwards - i forget the name)

for touristic stuff to do - try a cheesy ghost tour - its quit fun.

hope this helps!
