Just wondered if anyone has been to this small island in the Cook Islands. Many writers have described it as 'Paradise on Earth' and from the photos that I have seen of it I think I could also agree. I would love to go there myself but currently have to wait until my apprentiship is over until i can start my travelling adventures.
It would be great to hear from any travellers who have visited there and their experiences of it.
This is my first post here, was just browsing and saw your query and no reply, so figured I'd better join and answer.
I went to Atutaki for a week as a holiday prize staying in cabins in a resort place a few years ago, and it's pretty nice. Crystal clear lagoons, fantastic snorkelling among tropical fish, polynesian culture mixed with conservative Anglo-saxon New Zealand influence.
Spend some time in Raratonga (you have to go there to get to Aitutaki) which is still very small but rises above sea level, you can get around on cheap rented 50cc bikes, doesn't take long to go around the island, has more night life and variety.
I'd go there again but it's a long way from anywhere.
Much appreciated piece of advice
