Here are a few of my favourites in those areas.

France - Paris is a must just watch out for all the doggy landmines. The sewers tour is an interesting tourist attraction. Make sure you make your way out to Versailles for a day at the castle. Nice is one of my favourite places as well. Good place to recharge your batteries on the med.

Austria - Salzburg's old city is a must. Vienna has some amazing architecture and the best sweet shops. Try and make it out to the concentration camp Mathausen - did this as a day trip from Salzburg.

Since I can't remember where else you said you're going I'll stop there.

Enjoy

Berlin is such an amazing city you have to go there. Architecture everywhere, amazing left overs from the Eastern Block, wonderful hostels and generally just a fun fun city.

Hi you!

When you are in Germany over Christmas you should really go to Nuremberg to the Christkindlmarkt (German Christmas Market) and get some Glühwein (hot wine with spices). It's delicious and very good for the cold outside.
Berlin is worth it as well. I don't like Munich very much, but it's very pretty at the Lake Constance!Especially during wintertime. For example you could go to Füssen (Neuschwanenstein: a castle like in Cinderella)! ;)

France: Paris of course!!!

Switzerland: Zurich is very nice at the lake...

Austria: Vienna or Salzburg (they have the Austrian Christmas Market, the best is maybe in Vienna). Very pretty there, but cold! In Salzburg you should get the Salzburger Nockerl (dessert) and the Mozart Kugeln (chocolate)....

I've never been to Belgium and Denmark... :(

Ever though about going to a warmer country, you are from Australia, you must be freezing in Europe! :)
What about Spain???? Madrid???? Barcelona??????
I live in Barcelona at the moment and it's very very pretty here, very pleasant and I'm sure in December/January it's worth it as well! Of course, some shops/museums might be closed over x-mas (normally Dec. 25th),
-snip-
Think about Barcelona!

Hope I could help you about making up your mind! Good luck with your decision!
Enjoy your time in Europe!!!!

Hi,
Just wanted to let you know of 3 must see cities.. ;) First off in Switzerland I recommand Zermatt. Away in the mountains, accessible by train, such a lovely place, look it up I'm sure you will find it interesting.
And the two others are both in Germany: Munich I had a blast there.. if you like beer you are in the right place!! And the other one is a bit less known Rothenburg au der tober.. (hope I spelled that right if i didnt just look up Rothenburg). An old medieval city, still has the walls around the city, which you can walk along. A neat little crime museum, wonderful little hotels (I would avoid the hostel, you can get much better in a little hotel or b&B for about the same price.. well as long as your not there in the summer).

Well here are my three suggestions :)
Have a good trip!

Lucerne in Switzerland

Innsbruck in Austria

I've heard Brugge in Belgium is very nice (although never been there myself!)

I can only tell you about France:

Paris, of course! YOu just have to go there

Toulouse. Not many people mention it, but this city is just lovely, you fall in love instantly. Lively, small enough to visit walking (and big enough not to get bored), great food and people...
