Not much surf in the Netherlands. Going by this site (first in google), anything between "Scheveningen" and "Bergen aan Zee" should be reachable in roughly an hour by public transport. (Mostly combination train + bus/tram.)
Don't know any conveniently located hostels in the Netherlands though.

Hey there!

I'm not a big surfer (have only been once), but I stayed in an awesome hostel in Holland this summer called the Flying Pig Beach Hostel. I've heard it's some of the best surfing in Holland (and has some awesome kite-surfing too if you're interested). It's only about an hour from Amsterdam by public transport and if you can time it right there's even a free shuttle from the flying pigs in Amsterdam.

Have fun in Holland, it's AWESOME!

Hi there Jahunter,

Surfers definitely come to the Brouwersdam!
Strong winds, some waves and many surfers come
from Germany and Holland.
The Brouwersdam is located 1.20 hr by bus from
On the left side of the Brouwersdam you'll find
the Grevelingenmeer (= lake) to practice, on
the right side you'll find the Northsea.
Also kite surfing can be seen overthere!

Unfortunately there's no surfers hostel overthere.
Go to the local tourist information for
more help:
Good luck!
