Hi...I'm a Canadian planning a trip with an organized group to Lebanon and Syria in the new year. Considering the political climate, and all of the gov't warnings stating to only go for essential travel, I wanted to find out if anyone has been there recently, and what the safety/security situation is really like. Thanks for any information/advice!
Right now we're all waiting for a report out today on the assasination of the late PM so things are a little tense and security is a little high, but the dust will have settled in a few days and people back to normal. I think if you come in January you're going to have a great time here, between the nightlife, the skiing, the historical sights ... and of course the people .
seriously though if you need any specific advise about where to stay what to do etc, don't hesitate to send me a message and i'll do what i can to help.
as a half lebanese who goes there regularly (spend about 3months a year there) i can tell you that ive never felt in any significant danger there. Its a great place to go to,amazing crazy vibe and incredible people! I loveit there and can never wait to go back! In fact am moving there for 6months around feb so if you want someone to show you around a bit just drop me a line. same goes if you have any questions! I know ur going to have an amazing time!
well,I'm new here, and I'll like to say about safety in Syria.
That I can assure you it's more safe than most european countries.
some western friends said they felt more safe than in their own countries.
if you ever had any other doubts, then please let me know coz I'll send you after a link to something might calm you down .
Good luck with your trip in Syria, and if you have a time to accept my free tea invitation then wellcome.
BTW,Lebanon is also the same safe and friendly people....
I went to Syria a few years back and never felt that there was any issue about safety, most people were friendly and welcoming.
HI. I have been asked to accompany a client of mine to lebanon next week from Nigeria. could someone please give me some advice as to the polical situation and safety in the country. Also what is the weather like currently. Thank you. BNF
Still safe,No problems but if there is a new it's the updates about obtaining Visa to enter Syria from Lebanon on the borders ,this option has been claimed to be stoppd now.
Weather is cold these days in Syria and Lebanon in general, but to be specific the cities on the beach must be warmer.but prepare for the worst as most of the mountains in Lebanon are so cold around.
Hi everyone. I wanted to make a trip to lebanon to see a friend. Last minute decision as I want to do something for New Years. I have been trying to get a visa before I go but not sure it will be possible. How strict are they at the port of entry?
