Hi Brian and welcome to Travellerspoint!

Sounds like a wicked trip. Without flying you say? You should talk to Gelli, he's somewhere in Asia right now and is doing it all overland. I'm guessing your biggest issue is the boats out of NZ. Mind you, if you find one headed straight for Atlanta it wouldn't be much of a journey but I'm guessing that's not what you're after? :)

Hey, and where is that link to Travellerspoint on your website?

Hey, cool idea, no airplanes... That's something that's in my mind ever since I watched Michael Palins 'Around the world in 80 days'.

Did you ever look into getting on a freighter? It is possible, just a lot of hassle to get the connections. I knew a guy once whose Uncle is a Harbourmaster in Germany, but I lost contact... But he told me that the ships have to specify their two next ports after leaving that particular port.

So if you can get in contact with somebody in a harbour or a shipping agency they could maybe point you in the right direction.

Let us know how you're getting on.

Hey Brian,

First of all, I've got to say that I love your logo. Looks like on your site you credit Yann Facchin with designing it. Tell him some anonymous person out on the internet thinks it's cool.

I also notice that you linked to a bunch of sailing sites. I'm assuming that means that you sail. Are you thinking of hitching a ride on a yacht and crewing for any part of your round the world?

Ooh yes, I was going to mention that too. Very nice logo!

hey guys, thanks for checking me out. i just stumbled upon travellers point, ill through up the link next time i get the chance. thanks for the words on the logo to. yeah, i had the idea but yann drew it up, with it being squashed and all. i think it could evole a bit too, like a guy on a bike once i finish my trip in nz, then through in a sailboat or something...

im most interseted in finding a yacht once i hit auckland, but i might have to settle for a freighter if i can't find any... just gotta take that chance.

thanks again for the kind words and suggestions!

safe travels!

Hey Brian,

Welcome indeed to TP, and good luck with your plan. Yup, private yaughts are the best way to go, as you can get into crewing for a leg relatively easily (and sure as heck, allot cheaper than freighters which are normally supremely expensive across the Pacific, although it is possible). Its something i`ll be looking into in more detail when (if?) i get that far, but will follow your progress with interest to see if there`s anything i can use to help my own trip!
