Is there anyway to prevent spam coming via TP into my personal email account?

And make sure to "Report as SPAM" in your message center.

Also, Peter, maybe we should limit the amount of private messages that new members may submit to 5 a day.

Thx guys. Just reported message as spam.
It's so annoying to get it when there are so many other things to do on my pc!!! I really don't want to hear from people who want to transfer a £100000000000000000 into my bank account(unless I win the lottery or something!!!!!;) )

same problem here; isn't is possible to have messages of new members reviewed before they're being posted? I once heard that LP for instance has a nifty tool for that...

Bugger that, seems like we had someone sign up and get a few messages out this weekend! Luckily there were a few very alert members that quickly flagged the messages as SPAM which blocks (immediately!) the sender from sending any more messages out... I have now also permanently blocked the messages so no one should be able to read them.

I don't want to get into 'reviewing' messages from new posters before they are sent because quite frankly that is a privacy issue which we are DEFINITELY not comfortable with (I'm surprised a big organization like LP goes down that potentially legal nightmare track...). Secondly it's way too much work and thirdly, it would really discourage people from sending travel help requests which is one of the features of this site that new members use the most.

I like the idea of limiting the amount of messages to 5 for new members. What constitutes a new member though; one day, two days, one week? Mind you, probably just setting it to one or two days would be plenty seeing as most spammers probably couldn't be bothered to wait 24 hours to manually send out another 5 messages (as opposed to a thousand in one go via email!).

Pete/Sander, how about bumping this one up the priority list? :)

Sam

I should be finishing what I'm working on right now by the end of the day / early tomorrow, so I can insert a quick change to do this immediately after. (Based purely on how long someone's been a member; we can go for a more extensive fix in the context of one of the items I saw on the roadmap.)

Sounds good Sander. I should start using the term 'roadmap'. Sounds so much cooler than 'to do list'
