Hi everyone

I've just turned 28 & am heading out to Sydney on a WHV in Dec - I am so excited but also bit anxious as will be going alone. Need to get away & do this for me, have been before but only on a tourist visa.

I'm applying for my WHV online but wont have sufficient funds until the week before I go, I'll have £1,800 on 5th Nov but fly out on 7th Dec, do you think I cld apply for it now or will they definitely want to see proof of my funds? I have a single ticket out there so will prob need about £2,500 as proof that I can get back but will have another months' pay coming to me on 5th Dec so will definitely be ok for money. I just want to get my visa sorted ASAP. What should I do? Dont wanna ask my folks or anyone else for money to put into my acc as is way too much hassle right now.

Any ideas would be much appreciated, also if anyone is going to be around Sydney or is looking for a flatmate let me know!
x

Well irishoney

What i did was to arrange a bank loan so i could get a print out for the visa and just paid it back when when my money i was owed came in .

All you need for the form is a bank print out with your bank account balance .

I found http://www.migration.ie/Migration.asp has some good info on it . Might help you in the visa thing ,

Also i'm doing a website for irish traveling down under to help poeple out and would be great if you had any storis to add to it .

Hope this helps

Thanks OzEire appreciate your advice but unfortunately I cant get a bank loan right now due to finances!! But fingers crossed I shld have at least £2000 in my account come pay day so I will try it with that - I shldnt really have any trouble getting a working visa I hope!

I am a second generation Irish lady but would definitely be interested in meeting up with others! So let me know

Same here! I just applied last week through http://www.immi.gov.au. It cost me £75 and my application was approved in under 24 hours.

Didn't have to show any proof of funds whatsoever!

Easy Easy Easy - a flawless process!

Yeah, same here, I applied online didn't have to show proof of any funds. But it did take three weeks for mine to come through.
Don't worry about being on your own, you'll meet so many people along the way.....good luck!

I applied last night-but mine cost £80 and i'm sure there's a £10 charge. I also did it through immi.gov.au. hmmm how strange!

I didnt need to show funds-well not at this stage, that'll prob come later i would think. Good luck.
