Quoting Q_Zhang

What are you interested in seeing? I can give you instructions.

Having been deprived of a proper cosmopolitan environment for quite a few months now (which is very nice although occassionally you do just want to hit the big cities!), I'm actually just looking forward to the whole hussle and bustle of it all. Obviously wanna go up the CN Tower, go to Niagra Falls, maybe the Zoo (?), see the Harbour front, oh and would love to see a hockey game if possible. So any advice or information on those things would be great thanks!

Plus good bars, pubs and food outlets!

Ok. First thing I suggest you do is get a free subway/city map at the subway station from the guy who sells tickets.

Hussle and bustle - Eaton center & Yonge street: Dundas subway station. Go out and you'll find a multi-storey shopping mall (Eaton center). Just outside of the Sears is Yonge street. The next several blocks north & 2 blocks south is touristy and busy.

Niagara falls - it's 2hr. from the city so you'll need to find a tour bus or something. I suggest you check with the tourist office in one of the lower floors of the Eaton center not too far from Dundas station.

The Metro Zoo - Kennedy subway station, far in the east end of the city. Go upstairs and find the express bus to the zoo. The subway and buses are on one system so you don't have to pay extra going one way (outbound or inbound). Tickets are $13 or 15 for adults I think. Dress warmly!! The zoo is big and open air. Temperatures are around 8-9 deg C rightnow. One other thing, if you're here in the next week or two, pay attention when you get to "Castle Frank" subway station going east bound! Look out your window!!

Harbourfront - Union station subway. Go upstairs and out. Then look uuupppp!!! Guess where the tower is !?! North of Union is the financial district if you're into architecture. Go east 2-3 blocks and you'll find some open air markets and the really cool painted building. Go south (downhill, you'll see what I mean) and you'll hit the water in about 5 min. The ferry across to the island is at the foot of Bay street. A nice walk is go south from Union to harbourfront, walk towards the tower, do the tower (I kinda like the skypod, but it's up to you whether you want to pay the extra), Skydome (nobody calls it the "Roger's center"), and Steamwhistle brewery which are all (3 sites) right next to each other. Walk up to Front (or any street actually), go west to Spadina Ave. Go up Spadina to either King St (cafes & theatres) or Queen street (north is Chinatown, east are boutiques, MuchMusic (Canada's MTV) & the speakers corner booth, city hall, and the other side of the Eaton center in more or less that order).

Clubs & Pubs are on Richmond street (south of Queen street) around Spadina Ave. I just know the student pubs up by College & University.

Hope that helps.

The Toronto Maple Leafs play at the Air Canada Center, also not too far from Union station (go east and north). Check the internet for tickets.
