Soaking wet?

Travel Forums Asia Soaking wet?

I am planning on traveling through SE Asia between March-June. From what I have read, I have picked the wet season to travel. Unfortunately, it is my only window in which I can go. Am I going to be soaking wet the entire time? Is it constant rain all day? Or can I maybe luck out, and not get that much rain after all? Thanks for any advice!

March to May is generally HOT! in SEA. The rains ususally start in June and get more intense later, like Sept. Oct. March-May in Thailand, Cambodia & Vietnam are so hot, you would welcome some rain to cool off. It generally rains only part of the day, not all day. It is not the monsoon that India gets.
I first went to DaLat in VN because HCMC was unbearable in April. DaLat is at elevation; pine tress, lakes and waterfalls. This is where the wealthy Vietnamese & French went to escape the heat of SaiGon. Give it a look when you get to VN.

Actually, the rainy period is during late August-Nov...march onwards, the usualy tropical thunderstorm rains...usually in the afternoon...it can be pretty hot and dusty other times...

but anyways, in the time you are travelling it should not be too bad. I have been there the same time this year and it did rain, but not long than max. 2 hours a day. Don't worry about it could be raining always and all day long. That does not happen.
Most of the rain is in the afternoon or evening.
you'll be fine

Don't worry about the rain, it rains a little, it stops in an hour or two, and you can go about your business.

A lot of the rain is at night. When it rains in the daytime use that time to eat at a restaurant, take in a bar, go to a movie, hit a mall, or catch some Z's.

Don't let the rain stop you from travelling. The rain is kinda neat in the small towns when the fields flood, lots of frogs come out, from where ever they are hiding, and raise a big ruckus. Then the locals come out, catch them, and eat them. Everybody is happy!
