I am planning on a trip to South Carolina in February next year. I am planning on visiting Charleston and possibly moving on down to Savannah for a couple of days.

What I'd like to know (I have never been to the East Coast) is whether the weather is going to be bad! It would also be nice to hear some stories of shoestring stays in the region, can you help?!

I'm not intersted in the clubs or bars especially, more the best towns, best way to travel (get me a horse!), the best grits etc. You know the stuff we all dream about afterwards....

Many thanks

Weather in South Carolina in February should be moderate - daytime temps around 18-24C (possibly warmer) and nighttime lows about 13-16C. BUT, we have had some very strange weather patterns this year - so I'd say anything could happen!! My advice is to keep checking the forcasts for the region through January.
A good site for weather is:

Oh, you have to go for biscuits and gravy too - along with those grits (preferably cheese grits with bacon)!!!

I'm afraid I can't help you with accommodations or nightlife, but I'm sure someone else can! ;)

Pack a parka and a bathingsuit. You'll have no idea which to use. Savannah & Charleston have some volatile weather that time of year.

Check out the Market area in Charleston. I also enjoyed Bulldog Tours.

In Savannah, check out both City Market and River Street. I like Cobblestone Tours:
