Hi, i will be arriving in Sydney at the end of November. I have saved up a lump sum of money in my British savings account and wonder how exactly is/would-be the best way to transfer this cash into an Aus bank account which i will open shortly after arriving in Sydney.
you could transfer it using Westeren Union Money Transfer
You can send money anywhere in the world with them
Help this might be of help to you

The ANZ is definitely the best bank for travellers, and you have 6-weeks before you need anything other than your passport to open the account. The ANZ Access Advantage can be opened before you arrive in Oz. Simply download the form from https://ola.anz.com/noah/app/dda/welcome.asp?apptype=436. You can then transfer money before you arrive; you must still go to the bank with your ID to activate the account though. As for fees for transferring, about $25 I think.
Using nationwides flex account may help they dont charge for withdrawing money abroad
or try Citibank's Traveller Account.
