I'm arriving in Bangkok on 2nd of Nov, staying for 2-3 days tops and wondered, would anyone recommend a hostel in the Ko San Road area? Also, doing the full moon party on 16th - does anyone have any idea where to book online for accomodation as I hear it gets pretty busy around this time, just want to make sure I have this set up.
hey Nykky, not sure about hostels but a pretty decent and CHEAP hotel i stayed in last visit to BKK is one called "Washington Suite" it is equivilent to only $20/night, and you get discount on breakfast at the connecting restaurant (for only like 2-3bucks)
i plan on staying there when i get back to BKK on Oct 30th
All the hotels in the KSR area are fairly similar. If you actualy want to sleep at night don't stay right on KSR. There are lots of guesthouses in the immediate vicinity especially towards the river (other side of the Wat from KSR). I stayed at the New Siam 1 Guesthouse for 220 baht a night. That was a single, fan, shared bathroom. For 450 baht I upgraded to a/c, private bath with shower. Stay away from the Sawadasee Chain hotels - the rooms are small and nasty.
