OK so Ive been traveling a few months with a friend who had to go home suddenly and here I am on my own in Sydney. Ive never travelled alone before and Im finding it a bit daunting. So where is the best place to stay to meet people in Sydney? Im going to make my way up the coast and I want to meet some people to hang out with on the way - whats my best option? Is Greyhound the way to go? Anyone in Sydney right now?
Hey-i can imagine if you was with someone that suddenly being alone would be daunting! but do not fear, lol!
I have been back home for a few days, i was in sydney and did the east coast back down to sydney. I actually went on my own and loved it, i would find it hard travelling with the same person (or group of people) for months.
I used Oz Experience and you are guaranteed to meet people, the guides are brilliant-trust me-well the few that i had. I have heard from a couple of people that were on my bus that the greyhound isnt that good for meeting people (well not as much as the Oz Experience).
I only know that i liked Oz Ex. They are really helpful and if you get off at a destination with a group of people and where the tour guide is staying then we all went for dinner together and most of us stayed in the same hostel. Your'll get chatting to someone and when you book in at the hostel they'll put you in a room with someone from your bus if your checking in at the same time (if you understand that!)
Dont worry, i think Oz is a great place to travel if your alone-it's made so easy!
I hope this helps and done let being alone stop you from doing things!
Agree with lil j
Oz Experience is a graet way of meeting people more than the Greyhound b/c ozexperience is people like yourself traveling round Oz
Only other thing i can say is don't be shy . Go talk to people and they're only to happy to talk back . I think being on your own is way better b/c you meet so many more than you would if you were in a group . It forces you to make an effort .
Take a look at http://www.sydneypubguide.net/ see where people hang out in Sydney .
I found Scruffy_Murphys Bar good craic
Hope some of this helps .
PS i would love to put up some of your travel stories or tips for the rest of people on my site so set-up a blog and diary here and drop me an email -snip- or drop by the site and i'll add it to my links
