I can't say that I have ever seen a ghost but ...

We were doing a job at a hotel in San Francisco two weeks ago and had something weird happen. Twice we had turned on all the lights in the kitchen and turned around to have the lights over the hood above the stove turned off. No one turned it off and it was definitely a weird thing to happen. We found out later that the hotel was on a ghost tour of San Francisco. Supposedly there were weird, unexplainable things that happened there. They didn't do the tour that evening because we were doing a wedding but it was still pretty cool.

I know there are a bunch of other unexplainable phenomona that have happened around me. Ghousts, ghouls, whatever ... they're out there!

Happy Halloween, Y'all!

We used to go out to Bachelor Grove Cemetery, outside of Chicago, looking for the ghosts that reside there. We never saw them, though I believe they are there. We'd also go looking for Resurrection Mary - one of Chicago's most famous ghosts. (Never found Mary either.)

Resurrection Mary

My cousin's old apartment was haunted by a woman. My cousin owned a rather large organ and at night, someone would play it. I have been sitting in the kitchen with my cousin and his family when the organ began to play. (That was in 1972.) The ghost would also appear in their hallway periodically. I never saw her, but they lived with her for years and said she was a kind ghost.

One of my great-uncles, after his death and cremation, didn't like where my great-aunt wanted to keep his urn. She would set it on the fireplace mantel and each morning it would be sitting on the coffee table. She lived alone. During several of my father's overnight stays there, the urn would move from the mantel to the table while they would be away at dinner. My great-aunt was quite angry at this constant change and yell at the urn frequently - trying to convince my great-uncle that he should just stay put. (She also didn't believe in banks and hid all of her money in the pages of old newspapers that she kept in the basement.) I only had one overnight stay at Aunt Ella's - but the urn did it's thing while we were away.

Personally, I have not seen a ghost, but definitely feel the presence of "things". Deja vu is a daily experience - and can be disconcerting once in awhile. I do not have the radio or TV on during the day, but I definitely hear people talking in this house. I also "feel" them at times. Frequently, I smell things that are not there - flowers, Evening in Paris cologne and a few others. Pardus and CupCake both commented on something pulling at the sheets and rearranging them when they stayed in our guestroom. No, it wasn't the cats - they aren't allowed in any of the upstairs rooms. If I have a strong relationship attachment with someone (friends and family), I do get "feelings" about them if something has or is about to happen to them - good or bad. (Ask some of the members at Lunch Bunch chat - they will say I "get in their heads" a lot. (Not on purpose - promise.)

oooo those are creepy Isa. That reminds of a time I heard voices. I came home one night and no one else was around. I went in started walking around and doing things in the kitchen then I could here some faint talking. I called out to see if anyone was there but there was no answer. The talking continued.

I slowly walked around the house (turning all of the lights on as I went) to try and pin point the talking. As I got closer to the living room it became more clear, but still faint.

As I got to the sterio speakers I could hear the talking but couldn't make out any of the words. I knelt down and put my head right against the speaker and that was it, they voices were coming out of the speaker.

Now the wierd part is it was only coming out of one speaker, the other wierd part was the power was not even switched on. I turned on the power and a radio station came on, then I switched it off again. But the voices were gone.

Could be, but Phil commented about it before CupCake arrived... Yeah, I know - don't go there!!!! And CC commented about it after taking a nap while Phil, Kris and I were all in the livingroom. Again, don't go there, James!!!!

Care to come and visit?????

I used to work in a hospital where, on occasion, I would feel something tugging a lock of my hair if I left it down. Creeped the bejesus out of me! A quiet, dark corner of a hospital when you're alone has to be one of the spookiest things. I checked with a co-worker, and she'd had the same experience over the ten years that she'd been there.

There is a hostel in Scotland north of Inverness (cross the Black Isle, through Sutherland)...the name totallyescapes me right now, and I'm too lazy to look it up. My brother and I stayed there for a night. I was fine, but my brother and the group of German guys in the room with him got no sleep whatsoever! They were in a room that used to be a nursery and is supposedly haunted. Something pounded like an angry elephant on their door for the better part of the night, and opened the window above his head. He froze! I did hear young kids running up and down the hall, although I found out the next morning that there were no kids staying in the hostel that night. I wouldn't mind going back, but I don't think my brother will be joining me. Make what you will of it--I'm sure there are reasonable explanations...
