I'm planning to travel round the world in January, though the route that I want to take is causing my real problems! A summary of the route I was hoping to take is:
Uk to South America - NZ - Australia - SE Asia - India - West Africa - South Africa.
Apparently this doesn't fit in with most of the RTW tickets. This is the only opportunity that I will ever get to do anything like this, and these are the places that I really want to visit.
Someone out there must have done this route at some point. I would be really grateful to hear from anyone who has with advice on which ticket they used and who they booked with.
Hey - that is almost my exact itinerary - but in reverse.
Unfortunately, I am just buying my tix now and trying to figure out the best way to do it for price and locations....
i've got an estimate for almost $5K - which seems high to me, but I think I have some additiona things:
us to s. america to s. africa, easten africa, europe, asia, india, se asia, aust, back to the states
let me know if you find anything and i'll do the same..
Yes, a very similar route - just you're doing East Africa and I'm doing West.
I've been in touch with some more travel agents over the last few days and I haven't managed to get much further. The general advice I'm getting is that there are no RTW that include West Africa and that it's difficult to combine a stop in India with one in South Africa.
I'm planning on spending most of this Saturday in Trailfinders and STA though, so hope to sort finally sort something then. I will keep you posted!
I have purchased a "One World" ticket which seems flexible and serves afew continents... ,maybe worth a look.
