Hi, I am looking for somewhere to go during Christmas for snowboarding - suitable for snowboarding. I want to be pretty sure that there's snow. Any suggestions from anyone? Thanks!

Hi Cheryl,

Snowboarding over Christmas, how cool, I would like to do that to!! Last year I went for New Years eve to Verbier with some friends, unfortunately there wasn't too much snow, it was ok for snowboarding on the slopes, but off-pist I would have risked driving over stones and and destroying my new ski. Anyway in the last couple years unfortunately there wasn't that much snow in December (some say it's due to global warming). The best bet would be if you could go in February or March (it's less busy as well, not much waiting for the lifts).
I hope this helpes your decision

cheers

A good place to go where you definitely will have snow is Saas Fe in Valais. It has a glacier at the top, so the only times you can't ski on it is between June and August apparently. The lower slopes may not have very much snow, but you guaranteed some at the top! I was there at the end of March and we still had snow then, even on the lower slopes!

Have fun!

Hey,
Actually in the upper part of the canton Valais (where Saas Fee and Zermatt/Matterhorn are), there is usually always snow in Winter. But it is pretty expensive, especially Zermatt.
In the canton "Graubuenden" (St. Moritz, Lenzerheide-Valbelle, Davos) the same.
Or try the Bernese Oberland - Lenk, Engelberg, Kandersteg...

Here you might find something either: http://www.myswitzerland.com

Happy Snowboarding!
