welcome to malaysia igetlost,
it'll really depends on one's taste to where to head for in malaysia. but at that time, pulau/island on the east coast aren't reachable due to monsoon raining season.only the sea will get rough though, weather shouldn't be too wet yet.
if you like nature, go for any taman negara like Endau Rompin or Jerantun's Tahan , and cameron highland. like abit culture go melaka and penang, and mabye ipoh too.
i think malaysia is another easy roaming place, with the transport and the info here.
and hope you'll like it here.
long beach on the perhentian islands is one of the most beautiful beaches anywhere. well worth a visit.
Taman Negara(National Park) in Pahang is very interesting if you enjoy nature.Night walk, rapid shooting, visiting aboriginal settlement, night safari, caving etc.The whole experience is very enriching I should say.You can take our public transport at Pekeliling Bus Station : KL – JERANTUT – 11.30 am , 5.00 pm.Then from Jerantut, the bus schedule : JERANTUT – TMN NEGARA – 5.30 am , 8.00 am , 1.30pm , 5.00 pm. You may check in at Teresek View Motel @ 09-2669744 or mobile no 017-968 8817(Wan),reasonable room rates.Driving there takes 3-3½ hours. It took me 4 hours to reach there on a rainy night.I may drive up there this Christmas, wanna car pool? For guide services, contact 019-9131821(Amir).The best in Tahan, they say!
Enjoy your stay in Malaysia!
Taman Negara is too touristic & commercialised...that's how i see it...you can wait atop the "hide" in Kuala Tahan for hours on the end after dark...and u will be lucky if u see a wild life...no, you will not see an elephant, a deer or seladang..;maybe a few macaques...maybe u should try the belum reserve, or endau rompin!
hey, why don't you try some blackwater experience..at tasik chini, sg bebar, tasek bera...at least you will get a feel of what some conservation-minded souls, like the Wetlands International, Malaysian Nature Society, WWF and M are doing to keep the environ from deteriorating further!
Just my two cents worth!
