Quoting cobbana

Quoting Guinness

Handbags at dawn!!!

Aus V Canada

mmm that might just be sellable to sky tv.
There must be a few people willing to see this one

To Guinness

I found your post grossly inoffensive.
You are a cad and a boundah!!!

How could you ,an Antipodean yourself, even contemplate the thought of two colonials (Tway and myself) in martial conflict on SkyTV in England.
To be viewed by coteries of chinless wonders from Chiswick and Cheltenham, swathed in stale gout bandages, all braying like neutered donkeys and wagering guineas on the outcome of the fight makes me reach, that is, reach for the very smooth and aged Shiraz 2006 I bought yesterday. Slighty tart and pretentious, but very quaffable!!!
Damn, I was sure I had turned off the webcam when I tried out my new handbag in THE special darkened room.

May all your children be born with three heads so you go broke buying hats.

P.S. Jihad means never having to say you're sorry.

:) I almost piddled myself reading this post....THANK YOU!! :)

Aus V's Canada
The great handbag Battle
Well, good news is that Sky want to show the great battle between the two colonial worriors.

Now due to such a high demand the prices for pay-per-view will be a bit higher than the expected 20p, something around the £20.

Handbags will be of choice, but cobbana has to promise not to wear the latex tutu with fishernet stockings like in his profile pics.

Good luck people, and don't forget to register for your pay-per-view.

I can see this looking like the Batley Town's Women's Guild reenacting the Battle of Pearl Harbour!!!

(as seen on Monty Python's Flying Circus!)

Those killed in the 2002 Bali bombings had been destined to die by God, Muslim cleric Abu Bakar Bashir said today.
The families they have left behind should now convert to Islam, he said.

Conversion would give the bereaved relatives "salvation and peace".

"For the Bali bomb families, those who are non-Muslims, my suggestion is just convert to Islam so they can be saved and find some peace from Allah," he said at his home inside his Ngruki Islamic boarding school near the city of Solo in Central Java.

This is da'wa, the call to embrace Islam. The Islamic doctrine of jihad (holy war) requires that the da'wa be offered first, then when the non-Muslims refuse it, jihad is enjoined on the Muslim faithful to subdue the unbelievers with violence.

Religionists have always been one of the primary sources of violence and oppression in the world. They have been the enemy of the thinking man (and woman) from the dawn of time. Smoke and mirrors are still enough to convince people of the righteousness of their wrath.

The doctrine of Jihad is at the very root of the justifications used for what is now called terrorism. This doctrine may be misinterpreted on a theological level by certain extremeists, and yet the fact remains: Islam has built into its very framework provisions for violence against others...much like the western nations they so vehemently despise (but at least the West just kills for sport now, not for God). What the Xtians were with their state religions and inquisition 600 years ago, the Islamists are today with their jihads and fatwas. And if you want to look at the Jews, just examine Israel...a series of violent land grabs made by a state that was carved out of other political entities using, you guessed it, a sense of religious entitlement as their justification. The whole mess is beyond reason.

Religion was mankind's original sin.

This commentary is in no way meant as Western apologetics, or as an attempt to deny atrocities commited in the course of secular Western history. After all...we gave the world Nazis, nuclear weapons, and McDonalds.

And lest someone remind us all of the IRA, let me just say that that example of Irish xtian fratricide only reinforces what I have said about religion and religionists. Also, I do not mean to imply that all terrorism is Islamic, as could easily be taken from my post. I only meant to say that what springs forth from the doctrine of Jihad lately is currently called terrorism by the west, and the religious combatants, terrorists.

Also, to the person early on in the thread (as I was reading it) who referred to the United States as a Xtian country, let me sat that it is no such thing. The fact that many Xtians happen to live here does not ammount to our political state being Xtian. This is an important distinction made very clear in our founding documents, and indeed is one of the existential pillars of the American system.
