I am off to Thailand next weekend, cannot wait! I am going down to Koh Samui first for a few days and wondered if anyone could reccomend somewhere to stay?

How much do you want to spend? The difference between the low end and the high end is quite a bit. There are places for 500 baht, but they usually have no AC and arent on the beach. On the other hand, if you stay at a nicer place, $100-150 isnt out of the question. Also, right now is the end of the low season and prices will be going up in the next few weeks.

I stayed in Lamai at a place called Beer Bungalow about a month ago it cost 400B a night (the price may have gone up since then as its the beginning of high season). It had cold shower fan the usual -however it was right on the beach. There were lots of other bungalows all down the beach however I'm not sure what there were like.
Hope this is some use
Enjoy Samui we had a great time there

I am looking to spend around 1000bt per night. Hopefully getting air-con and be on the beach.

Thanks Pink!

I stayed at the Fisherman's village in Bo Put at a little place called The Oasis. It is a little restaurant with only a couple of tables run by a lovely lady called Mai.
She has some beautiful all timber bungalows behind the shop for 600 baht with a/c or 400 without. Bo Put is in the north of the island, west of the big buddha.
The fisherman village is quieter than Lamai and Chaweng and doesn't have the lady bars, but some good bars all the same. Chaweng is only 40 baht ride away though.

Another place about a km west of the fisherman village is Rasta Baby's...Cracker of a place with bunglows with beach views for 200 baht (low season)... Apparently they will be demolished early next year for a resort..

Have a ball.
