Ophanages in Cambodia

Travel Forums Asia Ophanages in Cambodia

Hello,

I'm travlleing to Asia in January 2006 and would like to spend the first months volunteering. I'm not attracted to the more organised programs as they seem to keep you at arms length from the project and cost the earth.

I have experience working with disadvantaged children ( and inner city London kids are tough!) and I'd like to work in an orphanage or school again.

I'm planning on heading out to Cambodia and would like to base myself there first of all, does anyone know of any groups that need a willing volunteer? I'm open to suggestions for Thailand, Burma, Vietnam too....

Having tried the internet not much has come up - please can anyone help with contacts/ names?

Thanks guys,

Susie

Hi,

I'll be in Phnom Penh for several weeks in December.
Would appreciate any recommendations of orphanages or other places that could use a volunteer for a few hours / days or a week.

Happy Travels!

I'd forego any ideas on Burma. The government tightly controls everything to a very extreme extent. You'll have better luck in Cambodia and elsewhere.
