Hi, travels this year for me have been non existant because of health problems , but early in the New Year I should be well on the road to recovery following surgery in December. So I am planning an extended trip in Spring 2006 , but before that we want to escape somewhere warm in late January/early February. . .
I know south america, asia and islands in south pacific will be gorgeous at that time of year, but we want somewhere closer to home in case my recovery period is tough . . .
So where would you recommend to go within 6hrs travelling of the south coast of England for warm weather, relaxation and recuperation, with places to explore if I am well enough for walks and culture!!
Where I am at the moment;Malta, its got plenty of hostoric sites to explore and its easy to get around,I use bus's but car hire is cheap and they all speak English.
From Malta you can catch a hoovercraft,1-30hrs to Sicily for a day to visit Mt E??? the active volcano or just stay and travel through Sicily to Italy and go up to Rome.
www.ryanair.com fly from all parts of Sicily and Italy and www.maltabargains.com and www.airmalta.com to Malta.
Stay in Spinola or Bugibba, all other parts of Malta close down appox 2000 every night.
Hope you fully recover and restart your travels.
al de bes
marocco, algieria, egipt - however nightime you have to wear a wooly jumper.
Don't book untill you know you are fit enough to go - it's a low season.
Remember about a good travel insurance.
