Try and make it to Puerto Escondido, lovel surfers town, small nice beaches. Not sure what the weather is up to at the momnet but it had such a good vibe. As you dont have much time, you dont want to spens hours sitting on busses, but they are the cheapest and other than flying the most frequent ay of getting about. Palenque is nice if you fancy seeing ruins, huge Incan pyramids...

I can't say much from Mexico D.F. (Mexico City), but I am living in Guadalajara for a bit now and Mexico is a great city. The bus system is very easy, just show up look for the destination you want and pay, sometime you can get a return ticket, but at the same time i can be funner not getting one. The buses leave all the time, night and day, so there will be one. Oh and one more thing, if you have student ID, sometimes even if its for a place they have never heard of, you get really good deals on going to Museums and things like that. And some are even free on Sundays in Mexico. Hope this is help

I thought I should add be safe in Mexico D.F., people who live there know anyone who does not live there, even if they are Mexician. I know Mexicans that live here and there Husbands work there during the week, because they feel it is not safe for women. Be careful, if i were you I would be very careful. Mexico is safe but Mexico D.F. is another story. i am not trying to scare you, just warn you, because I have been warned by Mexicians about that city.
Havea great trip, and I wich you all the best
