hey,

has anyone done any kind of volunteer work abroad at all? we were looking at some schemes in brazil. Are there any good organisations to go with? What sort of thing should we look out for (accomodation, price wise)?

Thanks

You might want to try the website idealist.org..it lists volunteer positions and internship positions all over the world. Most of the positions listed do not charge and sometimes even provide some benefits for the volunteer. I know of a couple of volunteer programs in Argentina and Chile where you can teach english in exchange for free room & board, spanish lessons, and occasssionally a small stipend. These programs are either free or have a max cost of about $1500 so I guess in pounds that would be about 900 pounds with the current exchange rate....a good deal I think. I dont have the paper's with those websites on me right now, but if you are interested send me and e-mail and I will dig up the papers. Good luck with your search.
