Ever have one of those days when you just want to throw out every picture you've ever taken and start all over again ???

Yep! Usually associated with the "Oh, woe is me! I need a new camera!" day.

why blame the camera when the problem lies with the handler?

the best camera in the hands of handler who doesnt know the rule of three will produce a painful shot! i take multiple shots and decide on the one that warms my heart.........

my photograhy tutor once told me this: treat a camera as you would to a woman...patience...of you are happy with her in the view finder, get the best angle, freeze her with the touch on the button....

now is that being sexist?

There really are times when an upgrade to a professional camera would be nice. Just cost prohibitive! You can only manipulate a point-and-shoot camera so far (which is to say not very far). Not so much to do with the handler. But, that's the choice for me: save money for new camera, or save money for traveling.

Something tells me that even with an SLR, I'd still have dark moments of wanting to pitch the entire album and take up basket weaving.

Yes all the time ! I don't have much confidence in most of my photos but i just keep trying, even if i only get one average shot from a role it can make my day ! But my biggest problem is that I have a tendency to be snap happy, for example in Gambia to get three shots of red monkeys I took about 26 shots , well you never know what will turn out...a few years i used to throw out the bad ones until i realised that i was just wasting money if i threw out everything that was bad, so now i keep them and try to see if i can manipulate them with photoshop to make abstract collages..

Both suggestions by Dana and Raven can assists anybody as a photographer
Dana insists of a quality of a man behind the camera and Raven giving his opinion on why you have to change your camera for a better one in term of technicallity or function.Man behind the camera must have knowledge and experience helps with the technical aspect of the camera and the subject you like best and study of the subject plus the time to go about your subject will improved the quality of the pictures captured.

I am sorry for mistakenly mentioned Raven for the change of camera for it's technicallity.Raven was not satisfied with his shot, spending rolls of films to satisfy him. This is common to some photographers especially in the newsapaper.Keep on shooting untill no more film in the end only one or two shots to be good for use.You have to limit shooting by practicing some dicipline such as do not bring so many rolls to one assignment and putting in mind to what kind of shot you can get from yuor subject more or less advance thinking.then slowly it will stop your habit of trigger happy.Anyway rbyslipahs i am sorry for mistakenly mentioning Raven on your suggestion or opinion but you are right if you are to change the camera in term of providing the man behind the camera
the opportunity to manipulate and to produce quality pictures,if one is capable and ready for a change.Cheers.
