Hi, Could any one help me here. Going rtw at end of nov, Starting in india. What is it best to do about money? I mean should i just take some currency and a bank card. Or is it worth getting travellers cheques? Any advice on this would be great. Thank you. Tony
Personally, I use just cards and some cash now. Most large cities have ATMs, so you can get local currency. Rates are usually pretty decent in withdrawing from your bank back home. Watch out for international ATM access fees, though. Tell your bank you are travelling and see if they can suggest ways to reduce your ATM fees. In general, though, try to get out as much cash as you need and feel safe carrying.
For spare cash, take some US dollars, as these are the easiest to change in most places.
Travellers cheques are too hard and expensive to cash, in my mind. If you do take TCs, take US dollar ones, and use a large company like American Express or Thomas Cook that is a recognizable name worldwide.
Thanks greg thats useful advice. Especially about the u.s dollars. Cheers, Tony.
