Someone said to my housemate when he went to Chicago to rent Ferris Bueller's Day Off and do everything he does. That involves driving a Ferrari, eating in a fancy restaurant, miming a song on a parade float, and seeing priceless works of art in a museum.

Then again, the character is about 17 years old.

Until I read this yesterday, I realized I didn't even know who won the World Series this year... Interesting...

Hey--at least you knew Chicago had a second team, right?

Ah yes, I did. Being from St. Louis, I apoligize for saying this, but one of my favorite memories of Chicago was seeing the Cubs play in Wrigley. Got to see Harry Carry sing "take me out to the ball game." Fantastic. The only consolation I can offer you as a Cardinals fan is that the Cubbies lost that day as Larry Walker hit two home runs (yay Canada!).

As a peace offering, I will offer the following - I was amazed seeing a couple of games in 2002 in St. Louis. I saw a regular season game against the Cubs and a playoff game against the Giants. The entire stadium was in red (except for me - I had no idea!). It was amazing.

If I don't have a Ferrari, will a Hyundai do? It has a V6...

And I have always wanted to be on the main float in a parade. Let's see what the hubby says.

Oh, why tell him - let it be a surrpise when you pass by on the float!!!

Isa heads off to see if any parades are in town...

Hee hee hee! Isa, I just caught the post on the page before about the possibility of another team in town besides the Sox. Bwa ha ha! Spoken like a true closet Cards fan! (you know you are...)

Would you guys believe I ended up doing NONE of the above? I would up, well, babysitting (!?!?!) for a friend essentially so she could have some time to herself. Ah, the selfless Amanda, sacrificing time well spent at the humanities fair to change diapers...

Please, feel free to PM me with your messages of condolances. (searches for the "pathetic face" smiley...)

WOW - that is self-sacrificing!!!!! No Humanities Fair, no riding on floats and waving at your husband, no Marshall Fields, no Berghoff Restaraunt... But, what you did was a very humanitarian act of kindness and I hope your friend will return the favor.

If you don't get to Chicago again before August (or there-abouts), you will miss Marshall Fields and a meal at the Berghoff! M. Fields has been purchased by Macy's and the M. Fields' name will be replaced with Macy's name. The Berghoff Restaurant has been "sold" to a (Berghoff) neice and the restaurant area will be turned into her catering business. The "stand-up" bar (meaning no bar stools) will remain open and Beerman's beer still on tap.

The sympathy card is in the "mail"!

Dunno...have to think on that one (mumbles something quietly bitter about "1987" and "Tommy Herr" under her breath...)

Oh, thanks, Isa! ;)

Someone was saying this is the last year for the window displays downtown? Wha...?!
