I'll be moving to London next month. Just wanted to know about the living expenditure there without family. Can I survive in London with £600 a month?

yes, if you can just cook for yourself. rent can be 200£ a week. so, sharing a room is advisable. then again, 600£ is not so enogh to survive in London. try the outskirts or outside of london for cheaper living conditions

Yeah I agree with that. Its not loads to play with but if you are sensible then it shd be enough to get by with

London is one of the worlds most expensive cities, if you can live there then you can live practically anywhere! Good luck

You might scrape by but it depends what area you want to live and the type of accomdation you want to live in.
Central London is easily commutable by tube at appox £22 per week for a tubeticket which covers buses as well.
Or check accomodation, destinations, links at top of page and cheap accomodation at side of page or or
Hope everything goes well and enjoy your travels.

you guys are mad! theres no way 600£ is enough! i live in Edinburgh make more than double that and live just average. London IS the worlds most expensive city, when u factor in Tube/travel, food, beer, rent, mobile, bills, council tax, TV licsence (if u get one), going out occasionally, credit cards or other debt u may already have. I had a convo with other peeps here in Scotland about movin to London and we all agreed that 500 a month rent is the minimum for survival in a small, dodgy area flat.

good luck if u do.

you can get a small room for £50/week or a small studio for £120 just outside the 1st zone if you look hard enough (private renting rather than going through the agency,,,

You don't have to go out to enjoy your life - food is cheap when you cook yourself.

Get the bicycle and save on transport.

People do live in London on some £100 per week - and still manage to save

If you do decide to take a £50 single bedsit be very careful of the area in London you pick as if you pick the wrong area and you are white/india/black then it will be very very dangerous.
Outside of touristy areas their is unofficial ghetto areas for whites/india/blacks and if you are in the wrong area its not safe especially at night.
Southall is a safe area for India people.
Have a nice trip.

I use to live in London with a bangladeshi family on a bangladeshi dominated estate - no problems whatsoever.

there are many europeans living in Southall - just the High Street and shops are dominated by indian businesses.

look for an accommodation close to your workplace - commuting in London is not cheap and is not fun

Hi all,

I'm moving to London in april for two months.I'm going to do my practical training in a travel agency in central London. My work will pay the travelcard for me and I'll pay two months rent for my landlord beforehand so all I'll have to worry is the food, which I'll definitely cook by myself.Of course shoppings and going out will take money too.But I guess I can manage..haven't thought about the budget yet though.
