I honestly believe that over the last couple years I tend to purposely keep any sort of relationship from developing because I think either

A. This will end badly when I decide to take off for another year -or-

B. This will go great and I never will take off again.

Is that completely nuts or what?

Nope not nuts at all.....You just need to find someone who feels the same way! :)
(Believe me...she is out there)

Not at all. Makes perfect sense to me, and the fact that i don`t always tend to use such a clever way of thinking (or even just thinking) is probably why i`m so utterly pathetic at relationships - or rather ones i may be interested in, not nutcase Japanese chicks...

Q - no idea about the spectacular - believe me, you don`t want my warped brain to come up with something spectacular if you expect it work - but whatever you decide, good luck to you!

Q-Zhang,

Sent her a link to this thread.

I reckon you telling us about your attraction to this girl, and asking your online friends for their advice is pretty spectacular.

You do realize you have to keep us updated with new developments now Q?
(Keeping my fingers crossed for you! :) )

Oh, I like that one! I was going to say do something that shows you've put some effort into getting to know her - and that's pretty perfect. I've always found that the effort behind the action - realizing how much someone has worked to do something for you - is worth more than any gift you could buy.

Hmmm....I can understand that sentiment, Tina. James, I don't think I'll do it though. I don't want to come off as geeky. Maybe I'll mention it in conversation. Since I don't have her e-mail, it's really a moot point.

Not nuts at all. I've had this same conversation with my camping buddy. His wife is a lot less adventurous than us. Conversations like "(Him) Hi honey, we've got another 2-3hr before we can get home. (Her) You're WHERE ?!?", happens a lot. But there are women out there who like travelling as well. Hopefully, you've thought about it and you're looking in places where those women like to hangout. At least you know what you want in a mate. Now you just have to find her. Good luck ! :)

Q_Zhang,

You really have to muster the courage to simply ask the girl out.

Blimey, I met this girl at a party a good number of years ago. She was gorgeous, vivacious, really bright, a good conversationalist, and she let me into her party which I....um... crashed (uninvited guest), with a friend of mine.

Anyway, I got her phone number (actually, it was written on the phone and I noted it as I left), and asked her out. To cut a very long story short, we've been married for almost 9 years!

You must do it Q_Zhang, you don't know what will come of it.

Hahahahaha.....I'm already planning to ask her out, James. I only see her once per week. And I'd rather straight look her in the eyes and ask her out to dinner and dancing rather than send her a link to this thread or anything like that.

But, I appreciate your support and in fact all the support from everyone who's replied to this thread ! This is what makes this community such a great place ! :)
