Hi
I am starting my round the world trip at the beginning of December in Argentina we are thinking of travelling south and then across to Chile. I was just wondering if anyone can suggest where would be nice for Christmas and New years. It can either be Argentina or Chile. Ideally we would like quite a vibrant place for New Years.
Thankyou

Personally, I would think about Christmas in the lake district - maybe Bariloche or Pto. Varas. While you won't get snow, at least it will be a little cooler and more Christmasy. From Bariloche or Pto. Varas, it's an overnight bus ride up to Santiago for New Years festivities...

You could spent New Years in Valparaiso. There is a big Fireworks festivity in there. Next to Valparaiso (just a couple of km) are Viña del Mar and Reñaca, in summer there are a lot of parties and night activity.
