ayrlass, dont frett, it's natural to be nervous, I too am going alone prob in July and will work fruit picking for about 4 months. I've never been 100% certain about anything, by the time it's a week away like yours, I'll probably be nervous too, but hey chin up and go for it girl! Test yourself!!
No need to worry, Jenna! Australia is the perfect country for travelling alone as a girl (done it myself ) and I guarantee you, you´ll have a great time and will easily meet many other backpackers. Be excited and a bit nervous, it´s part of the fun!
Me and a mate of mine will be coming out at the end of Nov.
We've already got a job on a farm in Holbrook (just north of the Victoria border).
Come the end of January, we'll be looking to travel ourselves.
Drop me a message and we'll meet up out there.
Hmm, I'm travelling alone during the 2nd and third week of Jan too. As nervous as you are, coz I'm not sure what kind of people I'll come across, but hope it will be a nice memory!
Meanwhile... still wondering which hostel I should stay in... and what kind of activities will be fun for loners?
Travelling on your own is great and you are bound to meet people.
Australia is a great place to travel and specially alone, people are helpful, everything is done for you, its such an easy place to travel-that's just from my personal experience.
Yeah thanx fur the help guys made me feel much better!!Maybe we'll meet out there or somethin, drop me a message lol
Being nervous is part, albeit a minor one, of travelling.
I've backpacked most of Europe and Asia many times since I was a wee 18 year old from Aberdeen Scotland, and I still got a bit nervous when I first landed my first time in South America (Santiago-Chile) in late January this year.
Welcome to Oz, God's own country.
Enjoy, enjoy and enjoy.
I'm sure you will have the greatest adventure.
P.S. If I ever lose that nervous, what's coming next, feeling when I travel again (off to Myanmar next March), I'll book into a seniors rest home and fade away.
