Random commentary:

I spent the summer working in an Irish pub on the Island of Crete and I just have to say that I love the Irish. Y'all truly know how to party and have a good time!!! I thought that frat boys in America could drink...boy was I proven wrong... I think Irish women can out drink the "hard core" partyers over here. Regardless I had a great time and met some of the nicest people from Ireland. Looking forward to my first trip to the island in march. Until then....Sl'ainte!!

Irish Pubs are a cancer on post-medievalist, recidivist, neo-colonialist, pre-modern society.
By the holy foreskin of Prince Harry, theyv'e even built one in Dubai airport!!!
One modern concept I give the body swerve, although I did manage to sneak a pint of Strongbow cider in during my transit. Just dinnae tell the wee wifie!!!

Anthony

P.S. I love ouzerias, and I hope the Irish (gag) pub wasn't on the Hania (Chania) waterfront.

cobbana,
I may agree with your low opinion of Irish pub franchises abroad but I think that they are still a damn sight better than most Aussie pubs I've visited. plus strongbow is an english cider not at all popular in Ireland and "wee wifie" sounds like you are mixing us up with the scottish. Maridod, cheers for your comments.

ps Irish pubs are part of our secret plans to take over the world. ever heard of the trojan horse?

Hmmm, perhaps you should forget about world domination for now & sharpen up your rugby skills instead

hey,
thanks for that FionaNZ, nice to see the All Blacks peaking between world cups yet again.:)
I am actually in NZ right now so I have heard all the cracks and had to endure a long walk home from the pub in my jersey and face paints. All will be forgiven however, if you do the same to England.

Come on Scotland!!!

PS why is it called the grand slam tour if you're not playing France or Italy? delusions of grandeur possibly?

whitb,
"I may agree with your low opinion of Irish pub franchises abroad"

I am glad you got what I was trying to say...I was not saying that the lack of true greek culture in greek resort towns was necessarily a good thing, but hey if it is there..might as well enjoy it right! Cheers!!
