Hey all

Im Fred 18, from London and am planning to arrive in Sydney in March 06 on a Working holiday visa i will be travelling on my own, although this doesnt worry me much as i've heard its easy to meet people out there just got a few questions which i hope some of you guys will be able to help me with.

I've been researching both Greyhound buses and Oz experience and have to say Oz exp appeals to me as i want to meet people and i enjoy a beer but i was wonderin whether its worth paying nearly twice as much to go from sydney to Cairns and do the activities they include in the price make up for extra amount, they all sound good fun but is it worth twice the money?

Also the World cup runs from the begginin of June to the beginnin of July and as its in Germany there will a large time difference so may be on at quite an unreasonable hour, so i was wondering if anyone knows whether it will be easy to watch it in the Bars & Pubs and if anywhere will make special arrangements for this?

If anyones doing something similar and wants to chat Oz pls contact me.

Thanks Fred

Well Fred

I think you might be better go with Greyhound buses as the money you save will help do lots others things . You can alway meet people when you drop off in places .

Just talk to people n you'll be grand mate

Thats my thinking anyway

Regards

Hey Fred,
re the world cup - the games are often at pretty rediculous hours for Australians. Most often the big matches are on early in the morning. SBS (a TV channel here) has a sports department (see this site http://www20.sbs.com.au/sport/ ) and they normally have most of the games on.....sometimes another channel will buy the rights - but not often. Luckily SBS is a free to air channel and most homes and hostels will have it available. Pubs will normally play the games if they fall in their normal open hours....for a match that starts at 5am some soccer clubs will open for the games but this is rare in suburbian and rural areas. If you want to see it in a pub rather than just SBS at home your best bet is to try to be in Sydney/Brisbane or Cairns for the games - city pubs and clubs are more likely to stay open for them!

As far as meeting people - just stay in a few hostels in your first weeks and you will pick up a few travel buddies no problems!

Cheers!!

AWESOME!

I saw on the news earlier that u'd qualified and some of the scenes i saw on the streets looked pretty crazy! cant wait now!
All we need now is the for Oz to be drawn in the same group as england- that would top it off.

cheers for the help
