Hi, Can anyone help with some tips on what are the best nights out in Paris, I was thinking indie or rock type clubs or bars or anything with a bit of an alternative/underground edge?

Any hints or tips would be great.

Thanks
Louise.

paris is hard to find the good stuff at night - a local took me to a great place called 'le divan du monde' --- they had a good band the night i was there which apparently they normally do.

when i went there was a huge queue and they werent letting anyone else in but somehow we talked our way past : )

it was sort of bizarre though because it is meant to be a great place and after certain hours, which i found to be really early, the band had to play without connecting their instruments to speakers because residents in the area complaines...

anyway it has an alternative edge - the address is 75 rue des Martyrs and you can take the metro stations to Anvers , Pigalle or Abbesses.

Le Divan du Monde is a good place for this kind of concerts.
There are actually a series of other such places in the area. I have also been to: l'Elysée Montmartre, la Loco mainly for metal concerts (Helloween, Stratovarius, The Gathering). There may be others.
Check out this website for a more complete list of concerts

There are also more informal concerts at places such as the Guinness Tavern

(but avoid their Guinness)

Also check this excellent website that has been existing for ages (I remember seeing it in 1997) and provides good advice on pubs and bars in Paris:
