As you can imagine a lot depends on where you are going,I suspect somewhere warm!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you are going Asia just take a shoulder bag with 2shirts,underpants and one pair of slacks in it,plus swiming trunks and sandals and washing/shaving kit,you will be wearing your long cargo pants for the plane.
Travel very light as anything you need you can buy it out their for 50P.
Thats all I carry but I see travellers with hugh back and front packs hardly able to move and looking sick, probally are carrying that load of rubbish around with them.
Enjoy your trip and travel light.

I agree with everything that jackboy says but just had one other thing to throw in - take some waterproof bags of different sizes these can either be the ziplock sandwich bags you buy at supermarkets or if you are keen grab a few heavy duty ones from a camping store. I love them cause they can hold documents, mini first aid stuff, sewing kits or even just your clean outfit. I always find myself wishing I had brought a few more. Can buy them in Australia and NZ easily but if you are going somewhere else first...who knows - I had trouble getting more in South East Asia. Don't bother with sleeping gear - most places provide it and every where I went was clean - if you find yourself worried about this you can buy silk bed sacks for next to nothing in most cities in Asia.

Vitamins, medications and all other personal items are very easy to get in Oz NZ Asia and the pacific so don't weigh yourself down with a years supply of anything!

my advice would be to pack light!
you can buy what you need when you arrive.
