I have been sto SA a few time. But, not since I have been married. I have been to Bolivia, Ecuador, Peru and Chile. I would like to take my wife to Buenos Aires in febuary. I would like to make it adventure/ romatic trip. Is that possible? I plan to stay for about 10 days. i have about $3k to spend after airfare and hotel. I was wondering what type of Budget I will need for 10 days and what attractions there are to see. I would also like to have a hotel close to the beach. Any recommendations? What is the weather like in Febuary? Thanks for all your help.

Weather should be very nice in Feb. I was there in Feb, and it was sunny for 4 of the 5 days, and the temperature was close to 30 degrees celcius every day.

You should be able to do what you want, especially with the budget you have. Argentina is not very expensive.

I would suggest thinking about some time at an Estancia (a ranch), maybe a hop a plane and spend a few days in Mendoza and wine country. Maybe something like this itinerary Moon 14 day wine tour, but drop the Salta part, and spend a few less days in Mendoza and replace that with some beach time.

Not sure if the beaches are really fantastic right in Buenos Aires, most people go outside of the city for beach resorts.

You might also want to consider a trip up to Foz de Iguazu, they're amazing. Not sure about the "romantic" 20 hour bus ride to get there, but I would imagine you could fly as well. Greg is right on about Mendoza too. Another good option for one to several days would be Uruguay. I know that Punta del Este is supposedly the glitzy beach area for S. America (and a short trip from BA). Also worth a day trip is Colonia del Sacramento. You can catch a ferry from BA and spend the day exploring the small historic town.

Spending all 10 days in Buenos Aires would be a great idea as well, but as Greg mentioned, I think the best beaches are away from the city.

For your type of holiday I would suggest heading Southward in Argentina to Patagonia and San Martin de Los Andes for the most romantic scenery in Argentina.

If you want the beach, stop over in Mar Del Plata along the way - it is a 4 hour coach ride south of buenos aires.
