After many many years of trying, the Aussies are through to the World Cup after a penalty shoot out with Uruguay!!! Peter is at the match and I'm sure wrapped with the result.... I'm sure Guus Hiddink will now become even more of a legend coach than he already was

Now, if just Norway could follow suit tonight

Unfortunately i didn`t see any of it, but feck me, they made it. At 2-0 in the pens, i was expecting the mother of all collapses....

Congrats, and can`t wait for Petes views and review as well.

Good luck to the other assorted play off sides tonight (Slovakia would be incredible!!), and of course the Bahrainians and Norwegians.

Well, it was a 1-0 game, just enough to get to penalties :) Looks like the Uruguayans had a couple of good chances too in the second half, but I believe the Aussies had that in Montevideo a few days ago too.

Now, if Trinidad and Tobago qualify, the Dutch will have 4 coaches at the World Cup; not bad for a nation of roughly 17 million!!!

Now, Sam, don't get too cocky.....only Togo and most of South America have more points than the USA, and we're 7-1-2 overall.

Right, not that it'll last, mind you.....

I still think Canada is better...

I watched the whole game. We played like rubbish for the first 10 or so, then really got our game together.

It was a well deserved win

Wow, totally missed this thread. Once again I'm reminded to check Off Topic more often ;)

They just dug up the penalty spot where the winning goal was scored yesterday and are going to auction it off. Expected to raise $100,000 or so. Not bad for a piece of dirt and some painted grass!

It was a great game - Australia played well mostly, a few nervous moments at the start particularly, but once that goal went in, the confidence of the audience soared.. Still riding on the high here
