Cheapest way to renew 30day visa from Samui

Can you guys please advise me?

I'm currently on Ko Samui. My 30-day tourist visa expires soon.

What is the closest port of entry to renew?

I would like to renew with the lowest cost possible.

I've heard people just cross the border (10min) and walk back in. No money involved.

I would hate to have to purchase an expensive 30-day Myanmar visa (just to cross the border and back).

Is there a cheaper way?

I have done it a few time before. What I done as I was in Krabi was to get the bus to Malaysia from Krabi and then come straight back. No problems at all.

Once I gave my passport to the guest house I was staying in and they done it for me, for the cost of 1200 baht. I would not reccomend this as firstly it is illegal and secondly I have heard of people not getting their passports back.

Your best off getting a boat to Surat Thani then A bus straight to the Malaysian border and back.

If you have a chance or want to stop off on the way pop into Hat Yai. Not much to see but as with the rest of Thailand the people are very friendly, there is a big University there as well, where they may interview you as they did me!!

One Love...

You can walk across the Burma border in certain places with a one day free stamp/pass from the border post and get another 30 day Thai visa on coming back, stay for a day or come stright back.
You have to leave your passport at the Burma border post,I have done it a few times just to get another Thai 30 day visa and no problems.
It always nice to have a walk in Burma while you are their, costs you nothing!!!!
