sooz1 has indicated that this thread is about Venezuela

Hi guys,
I'll be spending 10 days in Venezuela next year, arriving in Caracas mid-June and I was wondering if anyone knew the cheapest/easiest way to get from Caracas to Angel Falls and where to stay when I get there.
The package deals I've seen all seem a tad expensive but if that's the only way to do it then I don't have much choice, not goign is not an option!!

Thanks in advance :)

I looked into it to and it is expensive. Expect to pay around $100 at least, it sucks but that is how they make their money off of us. It's cheapest to see it by plane. But you can see it by boat the goes right up to it and that cost alot more but I think it would be pretty cool.

Late,
Adam

You can only go there by boat during the rainy season (starts August), before that the water level is too low.

We did a four day hike to Canaima through the rain forest in order to get there, it's a hostel at Playa Colorada (jakera lodge) that arranges it. The hike is generally not open for tourists, only for people going to Spanish school there, but we could come since they weren't full, check them out and ask!

On a similar subject....

I'm also planning to go to Venezuela some time in the next 1-2 years, as it's where my father was born (in the early 1930s when his parents were out there working for Shell).

Is there a cheap way to get there?! The price of flights to Venezuela from the UK seems quite ridiculous. Is there a cheaper way to get there other than direct flights from Europe (i.e. via the USA and then a cheaper flight from there)?

$100 is cheap to see Angel Falls. Consider what you have already spent to get so close. It would cost thousands to see them from anywhere else. GO FOR IT!

I am also going to caracas on 19th of june, travelling to cuidad bolivar overnight by bus and then starting a 3 day 2 night tour that takes you right to the angel falls, been looking at the copany's that do these tours and i think the best one is bernal tours its about $350 dollars, type it in google. the season to go starts around mid may so we should be ok. if you find anything better please let me know or if you fancy joining us two Colombian guys from Leeds!

[i]why you People dont book the cheapest flight even the cheapest package to Isla Margarita, take from there the ferry to Cumana.
From Caracas Airport Mayquetia to get to the Busterminal is very complicated ,because the Road is closed, the viaductis collapsing.
Transport goes via the old(!)Road takes 5-6 hours, taxis charge up to $120.00 per person!!!
If you fly to Caracas try to get a flight to Ciudad Bolivar or any other destination in Venezuela,,,avoid Caracas!!

sunny greetings and take care

Hi there,
The only way to arrive from Caracas to Canaima is flying, buy it is not a lot of company which offer this route, because of that the prices are a little bit expensive. The other way is to flight first to Puerto Ordaz and then from there to Canaima, it could be a little bit cheaper.

In Canaima there is not hotel, there are just camps, you can decide between one with bed and private bathroom or one with hammocks and with share bad room, of course the second one would be cheaper, but all depends of your adventure spirit.:)
I good option of these camps in hammocks is Camp Bernal.

I hope it help you a little bit
