Hi there,

National express is pretty cheap its the bus service in the UK. it can cost you as little as £6 if you get a funfare

Cheapest possible way is Megabus via Glasgow. £4.00 total if you book far enough in advance. Very very long and uncomfortable trip though.

Flying could be an option. Ok it cost more then the buss but it also go's a bit quicker. At this link here you can see your options.

Easyjet is a hardly budget airline compared with RyanAir BUT atleast it flies from Edinburgh to London (3 airports)

ryanair flies from glasgow which is a 7 Pound train ride form Edinburgh then to the airport in Glasgow another 2-3 pounds so already 10 pounds spent to get to the airport (one way) and then it flies to Stanstead which is i think 8-9 pounds to London. So u already spend 20 pounds before you even by ur ticket!

Inshort - Train is probably the cheapest option if you buy a month a head of time. Bus is cheaper but honestly - its not worth it...i did it once and never again.

I would also travel by plane. The further in advance you book your ticket the cheaper it will be.
If you go bus be prepared for a long and uncomfortable journey.

Hitchhiking would be cheapest. Megabus comes next. Flights might be cheap, especially if bnooked in advance, but centre to centre remember you need to factor in trips to/from airport which can make the centre/centre time and cost add quite considerably. train isn't cheap, but is only 4hours and if you book well ahead, you can get a cheap apex ticket which may come out comparable to flight when you add in all the extras.
