Hey
Myself and a friend are gonna be having a stop over in Hong Kong on our way back home from Oz in January, and I was wondering if anyone could recommend anywhere to stay for the night. Since it's our last night of travel we don't mind going a bit more 'up market' (ie not hsotel!) but are still on a budget!
Any help would be great. Cheers

Hello,
The hotel is quite expensive in HKG.
If possible, please advise :
1. what is the range of your budget (US$)?
2. what is the facility (e.g. Swimmimg pool...etc) for a hotel?
3. What is your arrival date?

Best,

I'm flying to HK tomorrow and I had exactly the same problem. Ended up booking The Kowloon <link below> as it had some great reviews and is a perfect location, wasnt too expensive at about £70 per night for a twin through expedia.

I've also been recommended the Marco Polo HK by a mate who stayed there, but boy is it pricy - unless you get a harbour view room I don't see the point in paying that much more.

If you want cheap and cheerful try; http://www.rentaroomhk.com/ not a bad location but still about £25 - £50 per night.

Failing all of the above try the YMCA its right on the harbour and is supposed to be excellent.....book in advance though as its always full.

I can recommend Kowloon Hotel garden hostel, Mirador Mansion, 57 Nathan Road (budget) or next door at the Holiday Inn for a little upmarket.

I have a very nice studio flat ideal for couple. It's conveniently located in Happy Valley, just 10 minutes away from the subway station. The studio has it's own bath and full kitchen. We also have wireless broadband for internet & cable TV. I am in the process of creating some pictures for viewing on the web.
I'm renting it short term for HKD$700 per night. Let me know if this suites you and and your date of arrival if you're interested. I'll see if I can fit you in.

Hi,
Here's an excellent site the HK govt put together on licensed hotels and guesthouses:

http://www.hadla.gov.hk/english/

Also, we live in HK in an area called Sheung Wan which is next to Central and Soho. There is a nice new hotel just down the street from us called Central Park at 263 Hollywood Road, 852/2882-7888. It's a great neighborhood to stay in because everything is within walking distance & it's easy to catch a bus or tram or get to the MTR. You also get to be in an area that still has the flavor of old Hong Kong. Happy Valley is a bit out of the way. The Kowloon side, while OK, is very touristy and commercial. But if you want to shop and stay in luxury, then by all means go to a high end place in Tsim Sha Tsui as other have suggested.

Hope this helps,
Martha

You can check out the IMPERIAL HOTEL, 30-34 Nathan Road, Kowloon, HK. or for something a little cheaper the PANDA HOTEL. The Panda is a little out of the Kowloon area but there is a subway stop nearby.
