Hey all
This is must first post (yay)
I'm planning on doing a winter season in Banff (Canada) starting in October next year and would like to travel through cental america for maybe 3 months before hand. Mexico to Panama I think.
I'm trying to get an idea of how much bling I need to save to do it. I know it all depends on what I do, where I go etc etc. But a ruff estimite would be great. If anyone has traveled through central america and can offer some help that would be great.

Hi
I travelled through CA this year from Cancun;MEX all the way by bus to Panama and it was very cheap,I was on the CA road appox 35 days before flying to Columbia.
Long distance bus;www.ticabus.com but I never used them,I just used ordinary long distance and jumped on appox 0800,jumped off 1200;max 4hrs on bus!!;avv 10$
If you visit my profile and go to my travel blogs I have a detailed story of buses and cheap en-suite hotels/hostels all named and priced;avv 10$
I carried Lonely Planet Central America and it was a great guide.
If you stay longer in places more than I did then it will work out more money for you but if you start with a 1000$ it will last you the full trip.
Hope this helps a little and enjoy your travels as it was a fantastic trip for me.
