If we have only 2 nights and 3 full days in Bangkok, what are the absoulte things to see. I do want to do lots of shopping as well. Assuming there is not enough time to go to Phuket or Chang-Mai as a side trip.

Hi,

Things to see; Reclining Budha, Grand Palace, Floating Market
For shopping, the best place is the MBK center. If you're not already staying on Khao San Road then check it out. Patpong market is also ok.

All of the things #2 mentions are worth seeing. I would add the Chatachuk market at the end of the Skytrain for another place to look at.

Off New Phetchaburi Road you can go to the top of the Baiyoke Tower. This is open to tourists, from there you can see most of Bangkok. The street leading up to the Baiyoke Hotel/Tower has lots of cheap clothing for sale. On Phetchaburi Road there are lots of street vendors for easy browsing.

Because you have so little time, I would recommend staying in the Siam or Sukhumvit area so that you can easily use the Skytrain. The Skytrain goes up and down Sukhumvit, there is a central station at Siam. The Skytrain also connects you to the Patpong area for the night market and go-go bars.

If you stay in the Khao San Road area you will have to take local busses and taxis to get anywhere. If you take a taxi only pay the meter fare. Never get in a taxi stopped in front of a bus station or hotel (lurking,) they are usually the most expensive. Stop a passing taxi and tell him to use the meter. When you ask the driver to use the meter you rarely get an objection, if you do - use another taxi - there are thousands in Bangkok!

Sawasdeeka, Welcome to Thailand

I'm bangkokian; the most visit in Bangkok is Wat Phra Kaew

very very beautiful and a lot of history, you can see Thai architecture and all construct....

And should try the Boat-Bus along Chao Phraya River; it's will make you relax and see the riverbank life.. -snip-

and should go to Chatuchak market (bigest weekend market; proof by Guinness book) :):):) most popular for travellers.

Have a nice trip :):):)

[ Edit: sorry, no promos in the forum please. ]

Hi rasa Shark, if I'm planning for a 4 days 3 nights trip to Bangkok, do you think is enough to visit those "must-not-miss" tourist spots that mentioned in the post?
