Hi,

We're in Bangkok at the moment, and need to make our way to Ho Chi Minh before 22/12/05 for the next leg of our RTW ticket.

We planned to book a tour from 'imaginative traveller' to take us around, as we hear Cambodia isn't very safe, and there isn't much travel infrastructure, but that tour is now fully booked.

Does anyone know of any other packages that we could get?

Thanks,
Rob

Unless you like the strcture of an organized tour, I would do Cambodia on my own. Tales of Asia is probably the best source of info on getting from BKK to the border, Cambo visa, transport to Siem Reap, scams to avoid, etc. After Angkor, then the boat ride or bus to Phnom Penh is as easy as asking at your guest house. All of them will be happy to book your transport and a GH in PP as well. Most PP GHs have an affiliate in SR. That way when you get off the boat, they will take you to your PP GH. You may want to spend a few days in Sihanoukville and enjoy the beaches of Cambodia. There are off shore islands as well to explore and diving/snorkelling trips. When you are ready to hit Vietnam, there are plenty of overland transport options between PP and HCMC. PM me if you have questions. Good Luck

Hi
Just go on your own as its a travellers route and you will meet lots on the pothole dusty no bridge road through Cambodia;Angkor Wat/Phnom Penh and jump a boat on the Mekong to Vietnam all for next to nothing,Cambodia is very safe and if you listen to everything people told you not to go you would'nt leave the house.
Just have Lonely Planet SE Asia and it has all the info you need for one of the greatest travel experiences of your life that you will never forget.
Vegasmike6 will give you all the help you need if you want ref guesthouses/boats,places to see and go and help with Vietnam Visa etc etc.
When you have done that trip on your own you will never think of a travel agent again so jump a bus and head for cowboy guntown Poipet(all hype)or else the knew Jackboy was coming!!!!!!!!!
Have a great time and enjoy your travels.

From Phnom Penh you can take a boat up to Siem Reap. The boat ride takes aroud 4 hours, you travel through a lake that boasts of the largest catfish in the world. At Siem Reap you can easily tour the Anghor Wat area. From Siem Reap you can fly to your next destination.

While in Phnom Penh don't forget to take in the "Killing Fields" and the museum of the dead and missing from the Kmer Rouge atrocities.

I believe Rob and his partner are heading to VN from BKK. They will get to Siem Reap & Angkor overland and then either take the boat across the Tonle Sap to Phnom Penh or endure more bad road and take the van/bus from SR to PP. Not
