Happy Buy Nothing Day Everyone!

For 24 hours, millions of people around the world do not participate -- in the doomsday economy, the marketing mind-games, and the frantic consumer-binge that's become our culture. We pause. We make a small choice not to shop. We shrink our footprint and gain some calm. Together we say: enough is enough. And we help build this movement to rethink our unsustainable course.

It seemse to be growing each year which is great to see!

Okay, so I blew that one - bought 6 badly needed rugs for my house - but nothing for christmas presents. I supported the "need to keep my feet warm on cold floors" economy.

Besides, there was this gentle glowing light over the Ikea store that just sort of called to us (and was flashing our names). We were only there for 30 minutes and it was too crowded to look at anything else.

I unconciously supported the cause. I was at home sick today and I didn't go out at all. Therefore I couldn't buy anything..

I did not buy anything (and haven't bought anything except food for months) I loath the holidays....My four kids each pick ONE thing that they would realllllly like to have, and I try to get it for them...if not, they will live. They appreciate the things they have, and take good care of it. Harsh? Maybe, but my children don't take anything for granted.

It's just the way I feel about holidays.......the meaning has been lost.....Wal-Mart does not determine my shopping habits and it never will..;)
