Mandi -

Since you brought it up, I DO need a little bit of information about Russia. Eastern Russia to be more specific. I'm making plans for a RTW trip that ends with crossing the Bering Strait. Can you help me with information about crossing the Strait during the end of February or the first part of March?

Thanks, Mandi

A rough idea of costs for the trans-siberian railway would be appreciated. Also an idea of what cities in Russia other than Mosow and St petersburg would be good to visit. Thanks,

From what I have found out, there is a fairly wide range of tickets available for that trip - depending on your accomodations along the way. However, I think the basic ticket is around $500 US. Of course that will depend of the time of year, but that might give you SOME idea. But I do still have questions about how often there are stops and whether I can get off at a stop and stay for a day or so and pick up the next train without adding to the expense. Any idea on that?

Hi scotsman,

Plannin a trans-siberian trip by train as well...

The prices from Moscow to Bejing vary between 445 EUR and
775 EUR depending on the class you travel in (1st or 2nd)
and if the train is russian or chinese...

At this stage I as well am interested to know how much
we should budged for the TSR-trip in addition to the tickets...
i.e. what do we need for food and stuff?
