I will be heading to Thailand in mid Feb and plan on going to Nepal, India, and Indonesia afterwards.
I am planning on spending 4 months in total and around a month in each place.
When are the best months to go to avoid monsoon season in these places???
I plan on starting and ending my journey in Thailand. What would be the best route to Nepal,Indonesia, or India after Thailand???
Anyone made a trek similar to this one?? How much were the flights?? or is overland transport an viable option??
I know monsoon hits Nepal/India around mid june. Between march and may its just hot and dry. You can't travel overland from Thailand to India (because of Myanmar which has closed overlandborders). Best to fly from Bangkok to Kolkata (must be 160 to 200 USdollars oneway). I know that you may travel overland from Thailand to Indonesia via Malaysia.
i have tried this route: BKK to Katmandu (flight), Katmandu-Delhi (bus)...cover as much as you want of India (by bus, train - i tried the Tawi)...I started westwards, going to Rajestan, and down...all the way to Banglore..cut across to Tamil Nad, then went up, and from Kolkata , I flew back to BKK (one month in India, ugh ? ), and then took bus to Hatyai, changing for another one from Hatyai to Kuala Lumpur.
You can also take airasia from BKK to KL and from KL airasia flies to several destinations in Indonesia, including Bali.
I hope this helps...
For some cheap flights around Asia I can recommend Charlies Connection.
Air Asia is also very cheap, especially from Thailand to Indonesia. You have to make a stopover in Kuala Lumpur though but then you can fly to several destinations in Indonesia, Bali, Medan, Jakarta etc.
