Hi there,Im currently in Bangkok and planning a month trip around Laos,Vietnam and Cambodia to commence the 5th of December or so.Could anybody recomend a good travel agency around the Khao san Rd area for flights, visas, slow boat to Luane Probang etc.The route Im taking is roughly Luane Probang - Vientiene -Hanoi -Ho Chi Min -Pnom Penh.I would really appreciate any tips, information or suggestions from people who have taken this route or are planning a similar route,Thank You
let me know if you get it
I would'nt reccomend using any travel agency and maybe change your route with all the help you need you can buy second hand in Khao San Rd is "Lonely Planet SE Asia."
Jump a bus appox 0800,jump off 1200 and you will be down Ko Samet coast and have a day!!!their.
Go up to and cross Cambodia border at Hat Lek and boat down to Sihanoukville and a few days on the beach then Minibus upto Phnom Penh and do all the tours.
Minibus and boat down the Mekong River to Saigon and enjoy Saigon then a boat up the coast to see Gary Glitter in Vung Tue!!!!!only joking(Hanoi this time of year is very cold)
I would go back Phnom Penh way and carry on up the dusty/no bridge road to Angor Wat to see the unforgetable ruins then upto cowboy guntown at Poipet(you'll be OK just tell them you know jackboy)
Back into Thailand and good bus's and upto Vientiane-Luang Prabrang then back into Thailand at Chang Rai and down to Chang Mai.
Down that way you can go into Burma for daytrips and see a little of Burma and maybe go all the way down by bus 8-12 to Pucket or other islands and maybe a day over Malaya border then bus back upto Bangkok.
Dont plan just have LP and away you go.
Wishing you a great and enjoyable trip.

Jackboy's route sounds good....
I was in Hanoi early February and it was a bit cold and grey but hardly freezing. A bit like spring or Autumn in the uK. If you do need to book tickets or get visas sorted and want to do it the easy way you might want a travel agent sometime....But most stuff eg boat in Laos you can book when you get there.
If you do I would recommend Pattama travel on the road parallel to Khou San Road (rd is possibly called Rambuttri) From KSR if you're walking towards BurgerKing theres a walkway full of shops on your left which brings you out just opposite it. There are always lots of Pad Thai stalls outside.
The lady that works there is lovely and I've never had any problems.
