I have been offered a rate of 65 bahts to the UK £ from my bank in London. I am sure i will get a better rate in THailand. Does anyone know the going rate once i am out there.
Also, i am in Bangkok for nights of 16th and 17th Dec and am looking to meet up with fellow solo travellers there...so anyone interested. THanks for those hooking up in CHiang Mai, Phangan and Krabi.
You can check with your local version of the Wall Street Journal or one of your large newspaper companies for the latest daily rate for Thai Baht. I have never found a "legitimate" rate in any home country that was better than what you get in the country you visit. Could be exceptions but I haven't found any.
Herald Tribune today has a rate of Thai Baht to the Pound at 70.974, if I am reading the table correctly.
Bangkok Post newspaper also has a financial page: www.bangkokpost.com.
i've seen the 70baht rate on the net but once you go to purchase currency the buying and selling rate can really fluctuate. I think i will wait till i get out there, last year i got 75 to the £.
It's 69 baht to the pound around the banks in Thai at the moment. The rate over here has always much better than what you get in the UK banks over the past few years. I don't think you will get 75 baht to the pound this time around.
