Hello All,

Sometimes I will wake up after a dream and think to my self, "Wow, that dream was awesome!" Then about 30 seconds later I can't remember what the hell I just had a dream about. I can only remember that I thought the dream was great! Wierd huh?!

That happens to me all of the time. You can almost "feel" the memory of the dream fading. It's like you are aware of the details, but when you go to recall them, they fade away.

evan,
i have a cure for that: either repeatedly analyze or think about the dream for a long time after you wake up, or write it down after you wake up. keep pad and pen near ya bed. i remember most of my dreams and i never used to. i just focused on em, and wrote some down. k thats all i got

Hmm yeah, you can't really be sure. But I think you dream a lot of the time, but you only notice as you slowly become conscience.

We actually dream in a cyclic manner throughout the night. We switch between non-REM (NREM) and REM sleep about every 90 minutes. During the course of 8 hours, we will cycle between the two approximately 4-5 times. Actual dream time (REM sleep) makes up 20-25%, or roughly 2 hours total time dreaming. There are 5 stages of sleep - NREM is stage 2 and REM is stage 5.

We don't remember our dreams because we do not normally wake slowly. Our sleep is interrupted by alarms and other influences, causing the brain to quickly kick into "awake" mode. That is, quickly switching from sub-conscious to conscious brain activity. If an image or sequence is quite intense, we are more likely to remember it for a bit longer after being awakened. Dreams can be retained if you allow yourself to wake normally but slowly. That is, stay in bed, eyes closed, and concentrate on the images of the dream. Also, STS has stated one of the best ways to improve dream recall over time - keep a pad/pen by the bed and write them down. This will help you remember more and more dreams (without writing them down) with some regularity.

I was awakened in the middle of a breakfast with Bill Clinton this morning. He asked that I call him Sam or Bubba. We were discussing swimming pools over a glass of orange juice and the waiter was just bringing our order when - wham - the real world showed up.

Hey Evan,

I don't have the interest, and I'm just too damn lazy to wory about waking up and writing down my dreams. If I forget what I was dreaming about, I dont realy care. Plus, I dont think my girlfriend would apreciate waking up and seeing "Milla Jovovich... Famke Janssen... hot tub..." next to the bed

That's exactly what happened when I was eating the balloons!

As long as he didn't offer you his cigar!

I don't know if he had cigars with him or not - we never got through breakfast... And I was really hungry!!! I do remember we were going to go swimming in the hotel pool after we ate - we were sitting next to it at the time.

I had a dream this morning that I was a reporter covering a ladies professional golf tournament. The golfer I was covering, strangely enough, was Britney Spears. She had a bad lie down a hill from the green right by a river (but a better lie than one of the twosome before her - Venus Williams).

As Britney was setting up her shot, I and a number of other reporters was interviewing her PR person, who suddenly turned into my ex-girlfriend's sister. Then I realized it wasn't Britney, it was my ex-girlfriend golfing, and then I woke up.

The strange thing is, though, even though my ex-girlfriend had a sister, neither the name nor the look of the person in the dream was the same as her actual sister. But in my dream, I knew it was her sister.

...strange.

I have another really weird dream involving ghosts, beat poetry, Tim Allen playing a ghost on an ABC sitcom and zombie chickens, but I'll save that one for later.
